ah ok, although i think the slot idea is safer still...zipties are made of varying qualities of plastic, hence you never know if it will react with the fork oil/grease you plan on using

why not hammer the roll pin out of the top spacer and slide the spacers off? Alternatively you could DIY some fox style spacers and cut a slot into the spacer a tiny bit narrower than the diameter of the rod, and click it into place

Thanks, I will keep your offer in mind. I've been inside it twice before with the supervision of a friend who also owns one so hopefully a cleaning and topping up job won't be too hard.
